Search through google adwords or google and select keywords containing less competition and higher searched. You can also search for a keyword in the footer portion which comes as "Search related to" while placing a particular keyword & search for it in google.

Title tags should be less than 69 characters. Google, yahoo & ask can scan 69 characters in title tags and yahoo 72 characters.
Description should be within 200 characters. Important keywords should be repeated 2-3 times and must be bold as now google scroll through description.
Create anchor text in some major keywords in body portion and hyperlink with other pages of your website so that customer can easily navigate through other pages of your website.
In title tag you can add modifier like "Best, cheap, review" ect. as people like to search with these keywords. Also try to add numbers like 100, 1000 in your title tags.
In title tag try to highlight the years of your business as it will create trust of your business.In meta description include a call to action like "call us today" in your title tag to increase the encouragement of the people. You can also offer an promotional deal in meta description like 15% discount on first five purchase.
As part of the off page optimization you can perform article submission, press release submission, search engine submission, directory submission, blog feed submission, video submission, image submission, site map submission and last of all social media submission.
The important part is the social media submission - Create a good profile in facebook, linkedin and twitter. Create a business page in facebook and linkedin. Add various groups. Connect with various people related with your business. Post discussion & post poll on controversial topic. Make good comments on other posts.
Create a gmail account, create a google+ account. Connect your google+ account with your facebook and linkedin page. Create google authorship with your google+ account as it will increase your credibility.
